In 1975, Andrew Metlege, one of the most respected and prominent real estate developers in the Halifax Regional Municipality, established a family company that was to set a new standard for rental property development and maintenance in Nova Scotia.

With over 40 years of construction experience, Templeton Properties has successfully developed over 2,000 residential units for the provincial and municipal governments as well as for the private sector. Key to their values is a personal service that makes their tenants feel they’ve rented a home, not an apartment.

Templeton Properties is still family owned and operated; Andrew and Joe Metlege work side-by-side. Joe ran his first project, The Harwick (www.theharwick.ca), in 2002, and has led a $20-million project for a 96-unit building in Clayton Park called Palace Royale, which opened in September 2008.

Joe Metlege is fully involved as a responsible and concerned property developer and manager. He was elected the President of the Investment Property Owners Association of Nova Scotia (www.IPOANS.ns.ca) from 2003, and was re-elected every year until 2009, he now sits on the board of directors for the association.  In addition, he was identified as one of the top 8 business people to watch in '08 for shaping and improving Nova Scotia as nominated by the business department of the Chronicle Herald.
